I was in Hawaii for a bit and did these plein air while I was there. Its a beautiful place with beautiful people, but that was overshadowed by how obvious it was that the land and her people were being exploited.

Exploited by the rich who move there, by the US government who overthrew the government there, and by the tourism industry. They were the ones who profited from the people's work and the natural resources, not the natives of that land.

Hawaii independence is long overdue along with reparations for the damages and theft that have come from the United State's colonization of that land.
